What are some of the more common ways someone could suffer brain injury? We ask personal injury lawyer Tom Metier in this AskTheLawyers™ Quick Question.

Tom Metier:

Some of the most common causes that I see in my practice of people who have suffered a brain injury are, of course, motorcycle accidents, car accidents, truck accidents, people slipping and falling, people running into each other and somebody gets knocked down and they end up putting their head on the curb or on the sidewalk. There are many, many causes. Any time that your head either strikes something or is accelerated quickly back and forth, you're subject to having a brain injury. One of the things that we often see is that a person doesn't recognize that they have sustained a brain injury immediately, but they begin to realize that things are a little off for them, and that's the time that they need to make sure that they're seen by a doctor, and then see an attorney who understands brain injury, who can help them get the help they need, and to really understand what's going on.
