What's the difference between a truck accident claim and a car accident claim? We ask Utah Attorney Kevin Swenson in this Ask the lawyers quick question.

Kevin Swenson:

The difference is really, really big. A lot of attorneys treat a truck crash as just a big car crash, and they're not. And they're not for a lot of reasons. The rules apply so differently to trucks than they do to cars, and that becomes a little bit of a problem because people driving think, "Well, I know how to make a right-hand turn, I know how to make a left-hand turn. I know how to do a U-turn," but when you're doing that with an 80,000-pound vehicle, it changes the rules dramatically, and the main body of rules for truckers or the federal rules, or the federal regulations dealing with that are very detailed. So people think, "Well, it's driving, so I understand driving," but it's a whole different type of driving.
