This video features Jillian French, a Family Law attorney based in Texas.

Video Transcript:

Tom Mustin:

If a spouse contributes value to the home that is separate property than the other, would it still be separate property in a divorce? We ask attorney Jillian French in this Ask The Lawyers Quick Question.

Jillian French:

The home would still be separate property, but that does not mean that because the spouse took community property money or even their own separate property money and invested it into the home, that they're not entitled to some sort of reimbursement or something back for that investment into that property.
