What can drivers and passenger vehicles do to avoid truck accidents?

Christy Childers:

A lot of times, there's nothing that drivers and passenger vehicles can do to avoid truck accidents. A long time ago, there was this campaign that was really started by the trucking industry, "Be aware what tractor trailers can see in their side mirrors and their stopping distance." At the end of the day, professional drivers, drivers of commercial motor vehicles, they are the ones who have the responsibility to make sure they manage their following distance, that they manage their speed. And so you can be driving completely safe and still in the day, if a tractor trailer driver is not properly trained by his company, and he's not being safe, there may not be anything that you can do to avoid that crash.
