Honolulu Motorcycle Accident Lawyer Explains

Video Transcript:

Molly Hendrickson:

Are helmets required for motorcyclists in Hawaii?

Wayne Parsons:

They are not, and many people ride motorcycles without helmets. They are... It is very controversial. It can be... Sometimes a helmet can cause a worse injury than if they didn't have a helmet on. I think those are very rare occasions, but that has put the legislature in a position where they haven't been willing to really change the law. So you don't have to wear one, but I highly recommend that anyone driving a motorcycle and a moped is even is worse because the mopeds are small and the cars don't see them, and if you hit... If you collide with a car with no motorcycle helmet on or your motorcycle crashes with no motorcycle helmet on, you're gonna be very, very seriously injured.
