San Diego Criminal Attorney Explains Misdemeanor Diversion Programs

Video Transcript:

Tom Mustin:

How can I get my misdemeanor case dismissed in California?

Mark Deniz:

A great tool that is recently... That the legislature recently created is called misdemeanor diversion. It allows for a great many of misdemeanor cases to go into a program where you make an agreement with the court, to do maybe some volunteer work, maybe some classes, but do something of that nature and show and demonstrate that you're gonna remain law-abiding. Which most people, if they've never been in trouble before, have no problem staying out of trouble for six months, a year, maybe two, but long story short, if you are eligible for the program, you get into the program, and you're a suitable and effective candidate, it results in the dismissal of your case.
