Is it important for you to have UM-UIM insurance if you're a driver in Alabama? Let's ask Alabama lawyer Sara Williams for this Ask the Lawyers Quick Question.

Sara Williams:

It is imperative for drivers in all 50 states to have UM-UIM coverage, especially post-pandemic, we are finding that the one bill that folks are not paying is their car insurance, and so I currently have 15 to 20 cases of people who are seriously injured, and there is no coverage on the other side. Some of those folks have under-insured motorist coverage, and so we are able to recover something for them, a good percentage of them did not because they expected other people to do the right thing, and so it is absolutely important today that you go and check your coverage and ensure you have uninsured motorist coverage, and make sure you have as much of that coverage as you can.
