What's the difference between vested and unvested stock options as a property in divorce? We ask Attorney Jillian French in this Ask The Lawyers Quick Question.

So the difference is really just a matter of when the spouse that does not own it or it's not through their company can collect on it, that does not make a difference on whether or not the spouse whose company that's not through is entitled to that. It is really just about the language that you're gonna put in that decree about when and how you get paid.
