Salt Lake City Car Accident Attorney Explains Car Insurance Policies

Video Transcript:

Tom Mustin:

What is the minimum PIP insurance coverage in Utah? And why is this important? We ask Utah Attorney Kevin Swenson in this Ask the Lawyers Quick Question.

Kevin Swenson:

In Utah, if you have an insurance policy on a car, it's important that it's a car, it doesn't apply to motorcycles, but you will have $3000 worth of PIP medical benefits. So what that does is if you're in any crash, whether it's your fault or the other person's, your insurance will pay the first $3000 worth of medical bills. So that's important because in a lot of cases where somebody is not seriously injured, but they do have some aches and pains, they can go get that medical treatment and not have to come up with that money out of pocket.
