Macon Car Accident Lawyer Explains UM/UIM Claims

Video Transcript:

Rob Rosenthal:

If you're injured in a crash with an uninsured driver, should you make a UM/UIM claim? Let's ask a Georgia lawyer, Christy Childers for this Ask the Lawyers Quick Question.

Christy Childers:

Of course, yes. You're gonna pay for insurance your whole life, thousands and thousands of dollars over your lifetime, and there's so many people that are uninsured. If you make a UM claim or UIM, which is added-on insurance, then they're not allowed to, they're not supposed to fault you for making that claim if it's not your fault. And so what I tell my clients is if they do raise your rates for a wreck that's not your fault, we report them to the insurance commissioner and we change insurance companies. But I've only had that happen once or twice and the outcome was good because in the end, they ended up with a better insurance company.
