Rob Rosenthal:

If you're injured in a car or a truck accident, should you use your own health insurance to pay for hospital bills? That's what we ask lawyer Kevin Swenson in this AskTheLawyers™ Quick Question.

Kevin Swenson:

In the state of Utah, everybody has what's called PIP insurance or Personal Injury Protection. That'll cover the first $3,000 of medical bills, and so you should use that first; you're required to use that first, but after that you should use your health insurance. It helps you get the treatment you need, it reduces stress, and it's a good way to get the medical treatment that's needed.
