New York Divorce Lawyer Recommends Them

Video Transcript:

Rob Rosenthal:

Should you get a prenuptial agreement if you're considering getting married in New York? we're asking New York City lawyer Carla Barone for and Ask the Lawyers Quick Question.

Carla Barone:

Prenuptial agreement is I would say always a good idea. And certainly the education that goes around the prenuptial agreement process is pretty invaluable for a client to know what does the law give you versus what can you contract for above and beyond what the law can give you is really the primary focus of a prenuptial agreement. It's also a great education for parties coming into a marriage who have children of another marriage. Sometimes this could be a second or third or fourth marriage, and it's very important to protect those assets perhaps that are left to children or intended for children of a prior marriage.
