This video features Chris Gilreath, a Medical Malpractice attorney based in Tennessee.
Rob Rosenthal:
Do you know the difference between medical malpractice and medical device failure? Well, let's ask Tennessee lawyer Chris Gilreath in this AskTheLawyers™ Quick Question.
Chris Gilreath:
So medical malpractice is a situation involving a doctor, a nurse or a local medical provider who's giving a patient some level of medical care. Medical malpractice is when those medical providers do something that falls below the bare minimum standard; something that no medical provider would reasonably do when treating a patient. A medical device failure is when someone receives usually a hardware implant, like a hip replacement or elbow replacement, and something mechanical in that device fails after it's been implanted in someone's body.
