"This is a place where parents are pushing kids in strollers all the time. It’s probably the wealthiest mall in Texas, one of the wealthiest in the world. There’s not a good excuse that they didn’t invest some money and time into making this place safer."
One day, two shoppers were walking in the Dallas NorthPark Mall garage when a car sped toward them. They had no time to get out of the way. One shopper was crushed against the wall of the garage and killed instantly. The other fell over the edge, falling two stories and requiring lengthy hospitalization.
Drifters had been using the Dallas NorthPark Mall parking garage as a race track, starting from the bottom floor and racing all the way to the top. Aerial photos suggest that this has been going on for nearly eight years.

Photos suggest that the mall let this dangerous racing go on for eight years. As one of the wealthiest malls in the world, it had the financial resources to stop it but chose not to.
"The mall continues to whitewash its history of crime and try to hide it from the public."
This is a place where families take their children. It’s also a place where wealthy people come to shop, and even then, Lenahan says there is a disturbing lack of security cameras in the parking garage.
Attorney Lenahan says that if his case is successful, the mall will need to shut down all of its parking garages for an entire year in order to make them safer. He hopes that he can reach an agreement with the mall to begin enacting some basic safety precautions.
Premises liability law outlines the cases where a property owner is liable for harm that occurs on the property. Commercial property owners must keep their guests’ safety in mind. This means repairing uneven sidewalks, keeping walkways clear of ice or other hazards, and also warning about potential dangers (i.e. putting a sign out that warns of a slippery surface). Commercial property owners should install cameras and make sure dark areas are well-lit to keep their guests safe from assaults or attacks. Failing to perform these basic measures could constitute negligence. Anyone injured on commercial property should consult with an attorney right away to learn more about their options for recovery.
