What should a bicyclist know about filing a claim in New York City if they're hit by a car? Let's ask a New York lawyer, Jeffrey Antin, for an Ask the Lawyers Quick Question.

Jeff Antin:

It's the same situation, essentially, your pedestrian. If you're on a bicycle and you get hit by a car, it's the same thing as being a pedestrian, and you also wanna wait for the police or refer an ambulance, make sure that...

And a lot of times, bicyclists could be even more seriously injured just because, depending upon how fast you were going on your bicycle or the fact that if you were to fall, you're falling that much harder from that much higher up. But basically the same as a pedestrian. You're basically the same as... you are a pedestrian, just on a bicycle.
