Tennessee Truck Accident Kills Two

Two people died in back-to-back vehicle accidents on April 7. The victims were driving south down Interstate 81 in Hamblen County, Tennessee when a collision spun their vehicle out of control.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has not released full details of the initial collision; however, authorities have stated that the car spun out into opposing traffic after the collision.

After the initial crash, the car came to a stop perpendicular to oncoming traffic. Then, a tractor-trailer struck it, killing its driver and one passenger. A third passenger survived the accident with serious injuries.

Tractor-trailers often weigh up to 20 times more than a standard automobile, and they are incredibly difficult to stop or maneuver in emergencies. This is why truck accidents often result in catastrophic personal injuries and death.
