Do brain injuries always show up right away after an auto accident? Let's ask Mississippi attorney Merrida Coxwell in this AskTheLawyers™ Quick Question.

Merrida Coxwell:

Now, your mild traumatic brain injuries are easy to miss. Much of the medical research says many of the conditions can go away after six to eight months, but any strong concussion, or any concussion to the head, can cause a mild traumatic brain injury, which can lead to sleeplessness, mood changes, headaches. We've noticed that usually, and I'm not complaining at all about the medical profession, but usually when people go in after an injury and there's nothing that's just outwardly observable, they just get sent home—and truly, in most cases, they will get better. But there have been cases where people have been left with life-long lasting injuries from a mild traumatic brain injury.
