A daycare worker was arrested last month after a toddler drowned in a pool under her watch.

The accident took place in West Miami-Dade on December 22, 2013. According to the Miami Herald, Zobeida Gonzalez, 63, of the Mayling Brache Family Day Care, has been charged with aggravated manslaughter and child neglect with great harm.

The toddler reportedly snuck through a fence and jumped into the pool, drowning at the daycare facility. Gonzalez reportedly told homicide detectives that she left the boy alone for a few minutes in an outside play area as she went inside to turn off an air conditioning unit, according to the Herald.

Police said Gonzalez’s story was a lie—video footage showed that the child was left unattended for 29 minutes, and that the toddler was playing on the stairs near the above-ground pool for more than six minutes before jumping into the water.
