Colorado Motorcyclist Dies Following Sharp Turn

Quite recently, a motorcyclist died on Highway 160 near mile-marker 121 outside of Durango, Colorado. The motorcyclist approached a mountainous turn at too sharp of an angle and came around the bend at too wide of an angle, sending him off the edge of the road.

When negotiating dangerous mountain roads, it is important to approach the turn from a wide angle by starting in the far side of the lane opposite the direction of the turn. This starting position also allows the motorcyclist to take an earlier peek at oncoming traffic.

Before riding on the winding mountain roads of Colorado, consider taking an advanced motorcycle safety course; a little education can go a long way.
