Miami Car Accident Lawyer: Disproving a False Police Report

Video Transcript:

Leslie Rhode:

If a driver is put at fault for an accident in a police report, is there anything that can be done to prove otherwise? We ask Miami attorney Jack Hickey in this AskTheLawyers™ quick question.

Jack Hickey:

Frankly, with the police reports, the officer gets there and a lot of times the officer is getting the story from one person. A lot of times that's the driver of the other vehicle, not you. So of course the police report's going to say it happened a certain way. Police reports are not admissible evidence. We use police reports as a starting point for our investigations. We do not treat them like they are the Bible. We just use them as a jumping off point.
