Why Does My Case Take So Long? Indianapolis Injury Lawyer Tom Doehrman Explains

Indianapolis injury attorney Tom Doehrman of Doehrman Chamberlain has years of personal injury experience he can use to help your case. So our responsibility, along with your medical team's responsibility is to determine when your condition is such that they can give us expert opinions as to what the future's going to hold for you. Reasons to Hire a Qualified Indianapolis Injury Attorney

Dan Chamberlain, an Indianapolis injury lawyer with Doehrman Chamberlain, explains how a qualified attorney can help your medical malpractice case. Medical malpractice can result in physical and financial damages, which an attorney can help you reclaim. Transcript: One of the most important reasons to hire a qualified personal injury attorney is that in every case there's one thing that is the same. Medical expenses have been incurred. And when the medical expenses have been incurred on your behalf, when the case is over you have to re-pay those medical expenses to the lienholders. That includes such entities as Medicare, Medicaid, health insurance. Now sometimes folks are uninsured. And that's another reason to hire an attorney. Because we can take those medical expenses that ultimately have to be paid on your behalf and get them reduced. Without an attorney you have to pay that money back all on your own. Indianapolis Injury Attorney Dan Buba Explains Contingency Fee Agreements

Contingency fee agreements allow victims of negligence to seek justice without worrying about spending too much money out of pocket. As Indianapolis injury lawyer Dan Buba explains, contingency fee agreements allow lawyers to take fees out of a successful verdict or settlement instead of requiring payment up front. Transcript: My name is Dan Buba and I'm with the law firm of Doehrman Chamberlain and I'm a truck crash case attorney. I've been practicing as a personal injury trial lawyer for years, and the one thing that people tend to be hesitant about, if I'm hiring an experienced attorney, it's going to cost me more. Most attorneys handling personal injury cases handle it on a contingency-fee basis. What that means is, it doesn't cost you anything to come in and talk to me. It doesn't cost you anything to sit down and explore your options, and you don't pay anything unless I can get a recovery for you. That is the same across the board for most attorneys. Whether you're dealing with an experienced attorney or an attorney who doesn't have as much experience, you're going to be under that same contingency-fee agreement in most cases and you won't have to pay anything unless a recovery can be obtained for you. Indianapolis Injury Attorney Dan Chamberlain Describes Benefits You May be Able to Collect

There are several factors at play when you seek compensation from an insurance company following a serious accident. Indianapolis injury lawyer Dan Chamberlain of Doehrman Chamberlain explains how personal injury victims might require a special needs trust or other financial protection to preserve their damages. Transcript:. Sometimes there is not enough liability insurance to adequately compensate for the harm caused by others. What happens next? The bottom line is that there may be health insurance or other governmental programs that assist with healthcare costs. However, before any agreement to compromise is reached, it is important to assess a person's needs in addition to benefits that they may or may not be entitled to collect. For example, under certain circumstances benefits may be terminated if a person receives a settlement but does not adequately protect the money received from the same. This may require the victim or their family to "spend down the recovery" until they are eligible again to receive benefits. One of the areas of protection may include a special needs trust also note as in SNT. An SNT may preserve a person's settlement while allowing continued access to certain governmental benefits. It is important to contact a qualified attorney that knows the rules and can assist in preserving money that is needed to care for a loved one and their family. Indianapolis Injury Lawyer Explains Correlation Between Birth Injuries and Cerebral Palsy

Tom Doehrman, an Indianapolis injury attorney with Doehrman Chamberlain, explains how medical negligence (not genetic defects or pre-existing conditions) often causes cerebral palsy. An attorney can help you seek compensation to cover your child's lifelong medical expenses. Transcript: Many cases of cerebral palsy are not caused by genetics. They're not caused by some defect that was in your system. They're caused because the doctors and the nurses didn't properly care for you during your labor. They're caused because the doctors and nurses didn't pick up that your baby was in distress and needed to be delivered by cesarean section. You yourself may have questions about what happened in labor and delivery. Perhaps you wanted to have a cesarean section, and the doctor argued with you. Maybe you were concerned that the nurses were always trying to find the doctor. They had a concerned look on their face. The beeping was going off on the monitors, and you asked, "What's that about?" These are things that an attorney can get the actual evidence and establish that there was medical negligence, and why would you want an attorney to do that? Because you're going to need compensation, and you're going to need funds to care for your child, because cerebral palsy is not a condition that lasts one or two years. It is a life-long condition, and it involves a lot of medical care and expenses, many of which are not covered under standard policies. If your child's been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, you need to call an attorney immediately. Indianapolis Accident Lawyer Tom Doehrman: Hospitals Liable for Birth Injuries

Women giving birth expect their medical assistants to keep a watchful eye on all monitoring equipment and prevent any serious accidents from occurring. Indianapolis accident attorney Tom Doehrman explains how his firm can investigate your doctors' and nurses' behavior during your labor process and determine if negligence led to your child's birth injury. Transcript: During your delivery you're going through the labor process. You're in a lot of pain and typically you want to get it over with. The nurses are watching the monitors. What they're watching is to make sure your baby's heart rate is what it should be, in other words that your baby is handling the contractions and the birthing process. Many times what happens the nurses ignore warning signs on the monitors. Many times after the fact I can go and look at the strips on the monitors and find out that your baby had ten or 15 or 20 minutes of not receiving enough oxygen, where the heartbeat of your baby was down from the normal heart rate of a fetus of 120 to 140 beats a minute will be all the way down to 50 or 60 beats a minute and when that's happening your baby is not getting enough oxygen to the brain. Now, when the baby is born the doctors will tell you, oh your child has hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, HIE, and you'll have no idea what that means. What that means is your baby had a lack of oxygen to their brain that caused the damage to their brain, and eventually your child will be diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Usually that diagnosis is within two to three years. Give us a call. Call us today or send us an e-mail. You need to protect your family and attorneys at Doehrman Chamberlain, that's what we do. That's what we've done for over 30 years.
